More McFarlane Toys Announcements
|
McFarlane Toys has released more information on some of their upcoming 2000 releases as the company continues to build tremendous momentum leading up to Toy Fair 2000 next month. The first official image of the Snake Plisskin action figure, part of the Movie Maniacs 3 assortment, has been unvieled (and shown here top center). This Snake figure is based on his look in Escape for L.A., the 1996 sequel to the 1981 Escape from New York. McFarlane has also announced the last figure in the Movie Maniacs 3 lineup, a second version of the creature from John Carpernter's The Thing (making 3 figures from the assortment based on John Carpenter movies, including Snake Plisskin. As the monster in the movie had no real form of it's own, and took on many looks througout the picture, McFarlane Toys has opted to create 2 figures from different segments of the movie. The first Thing figure is the Blair monster, the huge main creature shown at the end of the film, while the second is the Norris monster that bursts from a dead character's chest and is then burned to a crisp. This figure will be packaged with the multi-legged, disembodied head creature from the film. So, for those of you keeping score that makes the lineup of Movie Maniacs 3 Snake Plissken, Thing 1, Thing 2, Ash from Army of Darkness, The Fly (from the David Cronenberg version) and Edward Scissorhands. The official lineup for Spawn Series 17 has also been announced. Fans who have been asking McFarlane Toys to return to the roots of the Spawn comic book should be pleased with the lineup of this assortment as it features resculpted versions of classic Spawn characters including Spawn V, Medieval Spawn (shown center left), The Clown, Malebogia, Al Simmons (Spawn's human identity before he was turned into a Hellspawn by the malevolent Malebogia), and Tiffany the Angel. Spawn, Medieval Spawn, Al Simmons and Tiffany all come with customized bases. The Clown comes with a handtruck and Malebolgia is so massive he needs no extra pieces. Look for Spawn Series 17 around late summer/early fall. The company has also issued the first image from it's upcoming South Park line. Kenny (bottom left) is shown besieged by rats. Poor guy. McFarlane's website is reporting that the South Park license, as well as the Shaft Returns license, previously announced by the company are still under negotiations. More information should be available at Toy Fair. [Updated 1-26-2000]
