Toy Wishes Offers Look Into Celebrities Toy Boxes
|
What do Michele Pfeiffer, Isaac Hayes and Jenny Thompson have in common? If you said, a blockbuster movie, a Grammy award-winning album or a string of Olympic gold medals, you're not even close! This holiday season all three are featured in the inaugural 'Celebrity Wishes' section of TOY WISHES, the all-inclusive consumer magazine devoted solely to toys. The magazine's editorial staff took a 'sneak peak' into the toy chests of models, movie stars and Olympic Gold Medalists to find out just what they played with as children. When it hits newsstands on October 10th, TOY WISHES will unveil some of the most 'intimate secrets' of Hollywood's heroes, hotties and headliners, among them Mel Gibson, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, supermodel Amber Valetta and NHL superstar Jaromir Jagr. Would your readers be 'shocked' to know that Renee Zellweger's favorite toy was a tablet of blank ruled paper? Or that Freddie Prinze Jr. loved the Transformers' Optimus Prime? - ``I didn't have a whole lot of toys, but I remember that my parents got me this one doll for Christmas and I was pretty happy. It came with a bottle, and it had platinum, shiny hair and it had a ponytail thing where the hair grew out at the top of the head. I don't know what she was called but I think that was probably my favorite toy,'' Michelle Pfeiffer (What Lies Beneath).
- ``My favorite toys were trolls, because they belonged to my sister,'' Camryn Manheim (The Practice).
- ``I still have my favorite toy. When I was three, my father was on sabbatical in Italy and I was with him. It was Christmas time and I had this little toy car that Pinocchio would drive. And the head fell off. For some reason, my father planted Pinocchio's head in the ground. I didn't know why at three. Then it was Christmas and the next morning this thing had grown out of the ground and it was a giant, wooden Pinocchio. It's only 3-feet tall, but to me, it was gigantic. And I still have it. But the interesting thing about it is, after that, I was planting all my Hot Wheels. But nothing else ever grew,'' Nicolas Cage (Gone in 60Seconds).
- ``I had lots of favorite toys: Rub-a-Dub Dolly, my Fisher-Priceboat and airplane and garage sets for the Little People and Barbie Dolls. I still like Barbie. Swimming Champion Barbie is my favorite,'' Jenny Thompson (Olympic Gold Medalist).
- ``Glue, that was it. No, my favorite toy was my little brother. He was kinda bouncy,'' Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill).
- ``I used to play with Cabbage Patch Kids all the time, but now I like to play with my Corvette Convertible,'' Tara Lipinski(Olympic Gold Medalist).
'Celebrity Wishes' can be found on page 33 of TOY WISHES. The magazine reviews more than 500 toys in 25 different categories including sections featuring video games, dolls, activities and toys for physically challenged children. The magazine also contains 'The Hot Dozen,' the twelve toys predicted to be the 'got to have 'em' items of the 2000 holiday season. TOY WISHES will retail for $4.99.
