The Red Skull
I had seen multiple versions of Captain America's most nefarious foe, but a
certain custom by a gentleman named Curt Siegrist really got me excited.
Borrowing his recipe, this version of Herr Skull uses an X-Men Movie 1
Magneto body, a Marvel Legends Doom Dr. belt, a DCD Superfriends Superman
hand, a Marvel Legends Blade coat and a heavily modified Marvel Legends
Ghost Rider head. It was a down and dirty, quick and easy custom, but it
turned out to be one of my favorites.

Rogue and Gambit
All credit for these two customs must go to 2 people on the Fwooshnet Forums.
The creativity on the Modeller's Galleries forum is practically unmatched -
thanks so much. The Gambit is purely a parts switch between the X-Men Classics
Gambit and the Marvel legends Gambit, but it makes the figure look more put
together. Rogue was a little more work. She now uses SOTA's Lara Croft face
with some Kneadatite hair extensions. The peg on Rogues neck was too low, and
when re-affixed, the new head made it look like the figure had no neck. I had
to lengthen the neck to make her look more statuesque.

The Penguin
The Penguin is a
straight repaint of the Yamato Series 2 Batman figure from Japan. My good friend
Antonio was kind enough to send me the set, and I thought this figure was very
strong in sculpt and in scale with the rest of the Bat-Villains. Sadly, I never
really cared for the all-white tuxedo, so I simply repainted it black and added
the purple to the handkerchief. Now, he's more of a traditional-looking Penguin. |

Scarlet Witch
The older Toy Biz Scarlet Witch figure is a good addition the Marvel Legends
shelf - she just needed some basic work. I replaced her cloth cape with a vinyl
cape from the DC Direct Superfriends Superman and did a quick repaint to her
face. I think she looks a little more 'put together' now, and adds a bit of
brightness to the Avengers line-up.

Doc Savage
The Man of Bronze was crafted from a Toy Biz
Marvel Legends Magneto figure torso, arms and head. He uses a Jakks Pacific
Rick O’Connell for his jodhpurs and boots and a random wrestler for his hand.
His shirt was donated by a Mattel Killer Croc and his swanky hair-do was created
from Kneadatite. |

Flash Gordon
Flash Gordon, one the first space-faring
heroes of the serial movie age was created using primarily a Mattel Zip-Line
Batman. The only ‘new’ thing about this custom was a DC Direct Hawkman head and
a bit of cut vinyl for his belt and glove cuffs. |
Indiana Jones
What I would consider to be a ‘new’ Pulp Hero, Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. was created
using an N2 Toys Matrix Neo figure for the torso and arms, a DC Direct Saint of
Killers for the legs and fedora, a Toy Biz Marvel Legends Gambit for the leather
jacket and a Kenner/Hasbro Epic Force Han Solo for the head. The satchel came
from a Toy Biz Spider-Man Classics Hobgoblin and the whip, hands and other
accoutrements were from the parts bins. |

Jack the Ripper
I was initially excited about the McFarlane Jack the Ripper figure - in concept
- until I saw the very poor execution. So, I reworked it. Using a McFarlane
Candyman's legs, McFarlane Jack the Ripper torso (heavily modified) and DCD
Direct Uncle Sam top hat I was able to reconstruct a more historically accurate
Jack. I also used some clear vinyl for his waistcoat and Kneadatite for his hair
and moustache. I'm now happy with my Victorian gentleman killer.
