i thought i had read somewhere that a more comprehensive, full-of-extra-goodies version of this was coming out some time next year. did i make that up?

From what I've read, Nolan doesn't really shot anything that isn't in the final version of the film. I don't think that any of his movies have gone the way of the "double dip" when it has come to releases.

You're right. There's a special edition of sorts coming out in Feb I believe.
