I was so looking forward to this line but get disappointed, once again. They even want you to pay $24.99 for these non-articulation figures. What's the point of making them? You already have statues for this line. Here's hoping another company actually makes action figures for this line.
Agreed. It's not an action figure to me if it had less than 5 points of articulation and/or is in some proposed stance.
Might as well be a statue at that point
Heh. They should have spring loaded rapey action features.
Good one, simian.
I was hoping for at least a Harry Potter level of articulation myself.
HOWEVER - seeing as the only Song of Fire & Ice figures available are either the stylized POP figures ($10ish), unpainted pewter miniatures ($10ish) or Dark Horse statues ($100-$300), these proposed plastic statues ($25) definitely fill a price-point void. The challenge with Game of Thrones is the vast amount of characters; they can make 4 waves of six figures and still not have made somebody's favorite/indispensible character. And by then, a collector will have spent about $600 on what looks to be fairly good representations of the actors on the show.
Don't get me wrong - I would LOVE ultra poseability in these figures, and who the heck knows what the real reason there is none. The licensing is probably steep and the packaging is probably going to be a step up from traditional blister card & bubble. There's probably a lot of time built into the production schedule to get all the likenesses as best they can, and that costs money as well. Then there's the matter of those bases - they're going to take up a lot of room. I still have a shelf of LOST figures that I had to remove from those bases so I could get them to fit - and most of those aren't designed to stand without the base.
Will I get these? No doubt - I just hope to be able to preorder at a discount through DCBS – that would take some of the sting out of it.
I just wish NECA would have gotten the license to make the figures. With the quality of articulation that they use for their figures nowadays, I would be happy.
