Ouch. I've seen that price listed everywhere the solicitations have been released though!
Hoping DC just sent out the wrong info.
The price seems to be about right considering they just released that $50 Mr. Freeze.
Eh. They also listed Titan Joker for 79.95, but places are selling it for 57-58.
Wow, I guess I had stopped paying attention to the prices on the deluxe figures, didn't realize they were getting up that high.
According to the DC Collectibles press release on AFI, http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/main/dc-collectibles-to-unveil-stellar-line-up-of-new-toys-and-collector-items-at-san-diego-comic-con#more-49468, he is 13" tall, which seems a tad tall to me. Although, I don't have my Justice League comics in front of me, either . . .
The insanely high prices have already priced me out of collecting DC Direct.
seriously. i was pretty excited for the arkham croc... until i saw the price. $60?! damn! and he seems way too big.
$80 for an Apocalypse figure? No thanks!

I just got him for $45 at BBTS, so I'm thinking the SRP's for these big guys are inflated.
And is Darkseid really that big in the DCnU?
Did you mean Thanos? Because he's usually the go to comparison, and I assume you're trying to be snarky.
Well now at BBTS he's $75. No way I'm paying that for a figure like that. Have these guys seen Marvel Select figures size and price?
Considering the sheer awesomeness of the Play Arts figures that have been released for Arkham City/Asylum, why would anyone pay these insane prices for non-import figures? It's not like DCD has a long history of high-quality pieces, it's been my experience that while their toys may be great looking they are anything BUT durable. So if the choice is $57 for a bad a$$ Batman, Joker, Harley, Catwoman, and more coming soon or a $60 Mr. Freeze figure that is two POAs away from being a McFarlane statue... good night and good bye DCD.
I started collecting action figures when I was a stereotypical POOR student back in the 80s (Kenner Super Powers) while "starving my way" through grad school, because:
1) I would have gleefully killed for any little, plastic, super hero "army man" back when I was a kid, and...
2) Action figures were so INEXPENSIVE!
3) Action figures were abundant & ubiquitous, hanging from pegs at every local toy store—even at drug stores, department stores & supermarkets! These were the pre-Internet days, remember...? PlayWorld, Kaybee, Sears, Target, etc?
When I (infrequently, I admit) dust off the hundreds of figures in my collection, perched on shelves throughout my house, I shudder to think how much it would co$t me to "replace" these nowadays with our trainwreck economy, with our increasingly worthle$$ currency (as Washington keeps printing those dollars), and with our utter, fawning dependence on the Red Chinese to prop up our failed welfare & entitlement state—and even to produce all those little American flags you saw fluttering in the breeze a few weeks ago.
And what brick & mortar toystore in its right mind would order more than a single case of ~$20 a pop action figures? That is simply not a realistic price-point for any mass market, lowest-common-denominator retailer.
I can only speak for myself, but I've been priced out of the market.
I have to agree w/Scotty97. After seeing the latest DCD prices, I feel alot better about the import choices I make. I'd rather spend $30-70 for a much more articulated, durable figure than something that will crumble under my breath.
DCD *almost* had me when I went to go buy the Arkham Killer Croc, but the reports of broken limbs right out of the package scared me off.
I've found the increase price, reduction in size, & decrease in construction has really forced me to be more selective w/my toy purchases this year & my bank account seems much happier for it.
