Sorry for the double post, but I'm really befuddled about this. Has anyone ever had import toys held at customs or what have you? I ordered from Square Enix, and my package was sent, but now the tracking says "UPS is processing shipment for future submission to the Food/Drug Admin and/or dept of AG PPQ." And that it's held in the warehouse. Is this common? Does anyone know what the heck that means? I would appreciate any clue as to what's going on here. I mean, yeah, they're only toys, but they're MY toys, and I'd like them sooner than later, unabused by the feds.
Thanks.
Sorry, that was me. Didn't realize I was logged out. Duh. Capcha.
I've imported hundreds of packages over last 10+ years and that's the first time I've ever seen that.

Well that's not encouraging. Not at all.
I've been keeping an eye on the tracking information perhaps a little obsessively, and it's now changed to "UPS has obtained documentation and submitted to Food & Drug Administration and/or department of AG/PPQ;awaiting response." So maybe there's some progress going on. I'm just wondering what brought about such a strange "check"--the freakin' thing came from the manufacturer in China and got all the way to Cali before someone thought it needed to be scrutinized? Ugh. This will probably be the first and only time I order directly from Square. Let the e-tailers deal with this kinda garbage.
Got curious and googled it. Seems there's a couple different reasons for the inspection.
1) Sometimes the FDA likes to inspect imported packages for insects, especially from China.
2) Someone else's package in that shipment triggered the inspection and yours is stuck along for the ride.
Sounds like it's probably nothing and should get moving again.

Thanks, Emerje. It's sort of a comfort to see that longtime importers such as yourself are as baffled as I am.
I also ordered something from Square Enix, and got exactly the same tracking status of "UPS has obtained documentation and submitted to Food & Drug Administration and/or department of AG/PPQ;awaiting response.". Googled around and found this. Maybe our toys are stuck in the same shipment? I ordered a Windurst keyring and a Cactuar plush if you are wondering.
It would not surprise me. Here's hoping they get our stuff back on track soon!
I ordered a necklace from Square Enix, and mine is currently in California, with the same status as yours, I think we're in the same shipment, that explains a lot. Hopefully they get back on track very soon..
I'm hoping that too. I'm thinking we'll probably see updated tracking info within the next day or so. Too bad it will be another 5 business days (at least) before it gets to me from CA... I really want my Play Arts Armored Bats & Harley! I'm still not sure if I'm going to let this keep me from ordering from them direct again.
My UPS status is now "Held in Warehouse". This is not looking good. I've seen stories on the internet of stuff being held in warehouse waiting for FDA and/or dept of AG/PPQ decision for weeks. I hope this is not the case.
UGH.
Mine is currently held in the warehouse too, I contacted UPS on the matter and they gave me the same exact response: "Your shipment is currently being held, and will be released after a FDA inspection". They could not give me a "typical" waiting time, hopefully next week this crap is over with, never had this problem before.
Just checked the tracking info and saw a new "Exception": "Package data processed by brokerage. Waiting for clearance." Could there be a light at the end of the tunnel soon for this nonsense?
Mine is no longer in Exception. The status is now "Clearance in Progress", with a green color. This looks like progress.
Same here. Huzzah!
UPDATE: The status is now "In'Transit" and says it will be delivered tomorrow. FINALLY!
Finally it's on its way! Scheduled delivery for tomorrow
