My wife knitted some Minion hats for Dragoncon last year, and I added sculpey flex "hair" and cobbled up goggles for them. I'll post a pic once I dig them up.
Can't wait to see them!

Crochet Spock Ears:
http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2012/01/how-to_crochet_spock_ears.html
(I'd be more inclined to wear those in winter than to a convention)
Those spock ears do look like they'd be toasty warm, but I wonder how well they would stay on?
As a test, here's the Real Ghostbusters Sam Hain prop/costume I did for halloween this year. The head is sculpted insulation foam.
Hmmm... I guess facebook pics cannot be linked here? Here's the direct link:
Hmmmm direct links won't work either because of the 555-5555 thing. Maybe that needs to go?
I'll try a photobucket link
OK, photobucket hosting is also not working. I'll try that direct link as well:

Well, looks like the link to that album works. 8/
Along the top of the box where you type the message, there is a strip of wee boxes. The first one, the one with the wee picture of a sunset, gives you a pop up to paste in a link to an image. Can you try that? I don't think it filters the url in those, so it won't mask the numbers.
crochet Cyclops costume (not the Marvel guy, but more of a D&D thing)

I did use the sunset picture link in both attempts. I even tried to use the photobucket img link as well. 8(
