Play Arts Arkham Batman is simply amazing

Earlier, I had posted jokingly about Swift owning me $130 as his review of this figure led to me buying two of them.

Little did I know that this would wind up becoming my new favorite Batman figure.

For years, I have held Mattel Zipline and Bat Signal Batman in highest regard as my favorites. While the PA Version is a bit larger in scale and much higher in price, it is insanely detailed, spots an amazing sculpt and is fully articulated.

While this version is based on the game version of the character, he looks more realistic than any other version or at least, as realistic as a vigilante dressed as a bat can look. By this I refer to the armored boots, gauntlets and costume. Let's face it, if you're facing the likes of Bane, Hush and Black Mask, you are going to need as much protection as possible and this figure provides what I would expect out of....a giant vigilante Bat.

This is the Batman that can kick Banes ass, tear through Black Mask and his Goons and survive a high speed crash in the Batmobile while still getting right back up to chase Hush.

The cape comes in separate sections to allow poseability and all sorts of cool, dynamic poses. The figure has beautiful, sturdy, ratcheting joints and simply looks amazing.

He looks beefy...bigger than other Mattel and DCD incarnations of Batman, which I frankly like. I know Batman is supposed to be muscular and completely flexible, but how can he survive the battles he endures with a thin kevlar-ish costume alone?

This Batman is more a real approach to the character and sports the classic, scary pointy ears. I used to hate the pointy ears, but have come to miss them through the years. I would post pics, but Swift did a nice job of catching his features. I may add some action shots if I get time this week.

To put the coolness in perspective, I actually cancelled my Hot Toys Keaton Batman figure (which my comic shop also had in-hand) in favor of buying this.

Are the hips and shoulders ball joints or ratchets?

Yeah. I was impressed too, until this afternoon when I picked it up to put the other piece of cape on, and the left arm fell off. The joint at the shoulder just sheared off and I wasn't even moving it.
I'm pretty disappointed.
*Sigh*, I guess I'll get out the superglue.

Matt: Ratcheted joints and pretty strong ones at that.

Just Some Guy: That sucks man..please post how the repair process comes along as this is important feedback to share. Where did you buy it from? Check your messages.
