ALEXANDER DOLL COMPANY CELEBRATES 90TH ANNIVERSARY: INTRODUCES LIMITED EDITION ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION, NEW LICENSED PRODUCT AND A NEW PRODUCT CATEGORY
New York City -- January 30, 2013: The Alexander Doll Company is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a stunning collection of commemorative dolls, new licenses including Dylan's Candy Bar® and a collection of whimsical washable dolls. The entire collection will debut at the International Toy Fair in February 10-13, 2013 at the Javits Center in New York City.
"Beatrice Alexander started her company at a time when very few women even worked outside the home, and we believe she would be very pleased with the six limited edition dolls celebrating this 90th Anniversary milestone," commented Gale Jarvis, President of Alexander Doll. A magnificent 21" Cissy™ doll, designed to emulate a 1920"s photo of Madame, is dressed in a beautiful beaded dress and fur shawl and adorned with rhinestone broaches. A rare 12" Lissy™ harkens back to the original McGuffey Anas of the 30's and 40's while a 10" Cissette™ and an 8" Wendy™ are companion dolls dressed in celebration pink gown and dress. An 8" Wendy comes with a marionette theatre and 8" Maggie™ brings her doll "Funny" to the celebration. All dolls come boxed with a special 90th Anniversary hang tag.
The celebration continues, but this time it is the 75th Anniversary of the classic movies The Wizard of Oz™ and Gone with the Wind™. The Alexander Doll Company has developed dolls that will be a delight to any collector or doll enthusiast. A 10" Wicked Witch of the West™ comes to life with three Winged Monkeys™, while 10" Glinda the Good Witch™ entertains with three dolls from the Lullaby League. To round out the new introductions, 10" Dorothy™ in the Poppy Fields is complete with three sweet poppies. A 21" Scarlett O'Hara™ Cissy™ is resplendent in a multi-tiered Prayer Dress, earrings and brooch. Scarlett O'Hara™ in Honeymoon Dress, a 10" doll and Scarlett O'Hara™ in Barbeque Dress, an 8" complete the group.
Other highlights of the 2013 collection include TinkerBell™ and her sister Periwinkle™ (both 10"), an 8" Pinocchio™ in Pleasure Island and three 10" Disney princesses, Cinderella™, Sleeping Beauty™ and Snow White™, as well as four 10" dolls based on characters from the new Disney movie, Oz the Great and Powerful™, Oz (Oscar Diggs), Glinda, Theodora and Evanora, all expertly crafted in costumes reflecting their roles.
Alexander Doll welcomes Dylan's Candy Bar® to its family of licensed dolls with an 8" collector doll, Candy Queenand an 8" play doll Candy Princess. New additions to its collection of already popular literary licenses include Fancy Nancy™ and Marabelle based on the new book coming out in April called Fancy Nancy: Fanciest Doll in the Universe, and the 18" Bedtime Angelina based on the book Angelina's Sleepover.
Dressed in a pink warm-up suite and sneakers, Alexander Doll Company is proud to introduce Wendy™ Walks for Cancer, a fully articulated 8" doll with red braids. A portion of the proceeds from this doll will benefit CancerCare™, a national nonprofit organization providing free professional counseling, educational programs, practical help and financial assistance for people facing cancer.
A whimsical collection of washable dolls make their debut this season. The gang from The Wizard of Oz™, Fancy Nancy™ or Pinkalicious™, these dolls can be tossed in the washer and dryer on a gentle cycle. An exciting assortment for our youngest fans!
