Round three. =)
The rules are simple: I'll post a small excerpt from a comic book cover. Each time I update, each player gets to ask one "yes or no" question ("Is this a Marvel or Fawcett comic?", "Was the comic published in or before 1990?", etc. - any question that can be answered with "yes" or "no") and make one guess as to both the name of the series and issue number of the comic. There's no set schedule for updates; I'll just update when I have time. First player to five points wins the round.
And a note: the Grand Comic Database is an incredibly wonderful resource. =)

Edit: And I'm not sure how you took down all the Batgirl chronological lists of appearances on the net today but well played sir. I swear that every Barbara Gordon list out there is dead, broken or blank today.

Did the series that this issue was from have at least 50 issues in its run?
Flash 275-Nice one since it wasn't actually Barbara Gordon and was instead Iris West in costume. And I totally thought that was a gorilla hand and jungle foliage in the slice.
Yep. The Flash 275 (the death of Iris Allen), July, 1979. Dick Giordano. =)

Me too. I love that whole arc but the showdown between Mockingbird and Phantom Rider is especially heavy, considering.

What happened to Mockingbird? She was big for a few months after her return and now nothing. I loved how they were having the Phantom Rider bit still reverberating and then they just drop it.

Mockingbird had killed the Phantom Rider, and I totally supported that decision. But her husband, Hawkeye, was an Avenger, and Avengers don't kill. In the end it not only put their marriage on the rocks, it put their team on the rocks. Unique stuff for the Avengers...at a time when Marvel was consciously cutting back on "unique," a move that would drive out their big-name creators, lead the company to bankruptcy, and drag down the entire industry.

I was hip to most of that except for the cutting out unique tanking the company. What I was referring to was Mockingbird is back on the Avengers in modern continuity. And I don't want to derail the thread so only read if interested.

And I don't want to derail the thread so only read if interested.Spoiler: Highlight to viewShe was one of the Skrull prisoners since right after she and Hawkeye planned to divorce because of the Phantom Rider issue. She's returned to earth and Hawkeye thinks everything will be great with them again and then she drops the bombshell that she never wanted to reconcile prior to Hawkeye thinking she died and isn't wanting to be back to being a married couple. Hawkeye says fine and plans to get back with her, then Mockingbird gets her powers enhanced to save her life and then pretty well falls off the radar.
