- Tomy released Warrior in 1981 as part of the Tron series
- The figure was re-released by NECA in 2002 on both vintage and modern (shown below) style cards.
- The Black Warrior was only available as a promo from retailers (such as EB Games) with the purchase of the PC game Tron 2.0. Thanks to Jason Henrichs for this information!
- Solid construction (no rubber band)
- 5 points of articulation: neck, shoulders, and hips
- The Tomy figures read "Tomy Japan" on the right leg and "(c) 1981 Walt Disney Prod." on the left; The NECA figures read "NECA China" on the right leg and "(c) Disney" on the left
- The NECA figures are slightly shorter than the Tomy
- Glow-in-the-dark staff
- The Tomy version of the staff has "Japan" stamped on it; the NECA version does not
- The image below left is an early Tomy prototype
