Would you guys like Hasbro to have the DC 3.75 line?
The Marvel universe figures are boss. I would love to have a DC line like it. The infinite Heroes line kinda sucked. I like the articulation of Hasbro.
I'd love Hasbro to get the license back for DC stuff, period. 3.75, 6 inch, whatever.
The Mattel era has been one big disappointment after another for me.
On one hand I'd love to see a DC line of comparable or better than MU quality. On the other hand, I really don't want to buy DC in yet another format. And frankly I haven't been all that keen on how Hasbro has done business either with figures never making it to market or at least not in anywhere near numbers that would meet demand while Thor and Iron Man figures still clog shelves. And is it Hasbro or the retailers that make it months between restocks?
As long as it was MU quality I'd be all over it. Although I do agree that I'd like to see better distribution in most of Hasbro's lines.
Nope. I don't care for MU's wonky joint systems or the fact that most of them can't stand on their own. It would be an improvement over Infinite Heroes, but that's not saying much. 6" figs or bust.
I prefer smaller figures to 6-inch figures (they take up less space and I just personally think they look cooler), but I wouldn't collect a new, highly-articulated 3-3/4" DC line. I might buy a handful of figures of characters that I really like from the line, though, if they're good figures.
I'd be all-in for a Super Powers re-release, though. :b
I debated whether or not to weigh in on this, and against my better judgment I'll post my opinion.
I've been posting/lurking here on RTM long enough now to remember when Hasbro had the DC/Batman license. Even though they made a lot of stuff that I still proudly display on my walls (Legends of the Batman, and Legends of the Dark Knight, and some great Batmobiles), most of the posts on RTM were filled with nothing but vitriol for Hasbro. Most posters wanted Mattel to pick up the license, because they felt Hasbro was doing little more than reissuing neon/rainbow Batman with dumb/pointless accessories.
Now Mattel has had the license for years and I'm reading almost all the same complaints (with the exception of lousy distribution, that does seem to be a problem for Mattel), and people are calling for Hasbro to get the license again? Do you really think it will be any different? Will Hasbro do anything different this time around? Will they really do anything different than Mattel?
In a toy company's attempt to make toys for a profit they are not going to make everybody happy! The majority of people buying toys are still children, and the toy companies know this. They are making toys for kids, which is why whether it's Hasbro or Mattel or Toybiz or (insert name here) there will always be too many multi-colored Batmen, poor character selections, figures that can't stand up by themselves, not enough articulation, and no figures of female characters, etc. etc.
I guess I'm weighing in on this because I didn't believe Hasbro deserved the hate they got for the DC/Batman product they produced, and now that Mattel is doing DC I again feel they don't deserve the hate they are getting. In my opinion Mattel has given us more DC product/characters, even more than the fondly remembered Super Powers. This constant griping and crying about toy companies only serves to make the collector market seem like a bunch of whiny children who won't be happy with anything.
And in closing I'll just say this, when it comes to Matty Collector, all the complaints seem perfectly justified. Complain away!
Justsomeguy, Not complaining about anything...I just want a GI JOE, STAR WARS, MARVEL UNIVERSE sized DC action figures so they all could be posed together. Right now Hasbro isn´t putting out multi colored and neon Beast figures in the MU line. The MU line is being treated like Star Wars right now. MU has as many characters as Star Wars and I can see the line continuing for years with Hasbro doing most of the Marvel Universe. Would like to see DC too! 3 inch figures can be used with most playsets. Not so with 6 inch.
Would the licensing companies (DC and Marvel) have any say in the lines? One benefit I can see of a single toy company handling both lines is the reuse of molds and consolidation of scale, but I wonder if Marvel could refuse to have their figures and the DC figures in the same scale or sharing a buck.
I don't care who gets the license as long as they raffle off the chance to be the one who ties Ol' Paper Mache Head to the back of a truck and drags him down a long dirt road for a couple of miles.
Mattel's level of CONTEMPT for their consumer base pisses me off. One of the big questions I ask myself before buying a toy is "Is it made by Mattel?" and if yes I try to live without it.

The sad thing about MU (a great line) is it doesn't have half the quality the GI Joe line has. I hold a MU figure and see discolored plastic and warped limbs in 5 years. I hold a GI Joe figure and I fell like I'll own him forever...and he'll be in great shape too. If both MU and DCU could be made and designed in the same fashion as GI Joe, I'd be VERY happy.
